Millionaire playboy genius philanthropist Howard Stark and Major Peggy Carter host a USO-style ball at the American Club in London to give our boys - British and American alike - a great send-off. Guest of honour is the Star-Spangled Man himself - Steve Rogers, better known as Captain America.

Sara & Swingtime play the greatest hits of the 1930s and 40s - from Swing (that's "Jive" to you Brits) and Fox Trot to Tango and Rumba - with plenty of waltzes for you Romantics, including the Congress of Vienna Waltz - and a few sociable mixers, including The Veleta and The Lambeth Walk ("Oy!").

There will be a pre-ball dance class in vintage fox trot and East Coast Swing for those wanting a brush-up. Formal dancing follows from 8 pm to midnight. At intermission we'll have both DJ dancing and a performance by the Star Spangled Girls.

Vintage or modern evening dress or 1940s costume is admired but not required. Both civilians and military are welcome. Superheroes and heroines of any comic universe are welcome, though we suggest they attend in their secret identity clothes rather than in their hero costumes. And surely there can be no danger of infiltration by the enemy.

 Hail Hydra!

There will be a no-host bar and a light snack buffet (your potluck contributions are welcome in this time of war-time shortages).

God save the King and God bless America!
