A yellow fog swirls past the window-pane
As night descends upon this fabled street:
A lonely hansom splashes through the rain,
The ghostly gas lamps fail at twenty feet.
Here, though the world explode, these two survive,
And it is always eighteen ninety-five.

Who never lived and so can never die:

The game's afoot! Join Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes, Dr. and Mrs. Watson, and the beautiful Irene Adler for an evening of dancing and mystery in an elegant ballroom in Sherlock Holmes' London, where it's always 1895.

The always-brilliant Brassworks will play a variety of Victorian waltzes, polkas, schottisches, mazurka waltzes, mixers, set dances, The Quadrille, the Lancers, and such neo-Victorian favorites as "The Congress of Vienna Waltz" and "The Bohemian National Polka." All set dances will, as usual, be taught and called.

Late Victorian, Edwardian, or modern evening dress, civilian or military, is admired but not required. Gothic or Victorian Steampunk costume is also welcome. But do wear shoes you can actually dance in to the band's lively music (Heels over two inches and any spike heels are strongly discouraged!).

Light refreshments will be served (your potluck finger-food contributions to Mrs. Hudson's kitchen will be very welcome). We'll also have a no host bar and quite possibly a mystery!
