Wind up your clockwork unicycle, stoke the steam engines on your autogyre, and consult your Babbage analytical engines for the temporal and spatial coordinates of this 19th-Century retro-futuristic evening of Terpsichorean delight.
What is Steampunk? Victorian science fiction! Imagine the Victorians with High Technology - steam-powered airships and horseless carriages, computers (analytical engines), and high-speed communication. And, of course, fashions that glorify the corset, are stylish but practical, and can be swiftly altered for action. Flexible hemlines are also fashionable. Goggles and tool belts are optional.
Greenwich Mean Time, the most up-to-date band in London, will play a variety of late Victorian and Edwardian social dances, including both traditional and Steampunk-inspired dances and some of the most romantic waltzes you've ever heard. For those who want a brush-up on the latest dances, there will be a pre-ball dance class at 7pm followed by formal dancing from 8pm to midnight.
Our celebrated No Host bar will be open and we’ll be serving light refreshments, but we suggest our guests dine before the ball. There are a variety of excellent restaurants in the neighborhood, especially on nearby Park Street.
